Better Hotel Imagery. Stronger Brand. More Bookings.
Case study: Caer Rhun Hall Hotel

Where Strong Hotels Are Let Down by Weak Imagery
Most hotels don’t have a marketing problem, they have an imagery problem.
When the experience of a hotel exceeds what’s presented online, it creates a quiet but costly disconnect. Outdated photography, flat lighting, and inconsistent visuals across websites and booking platforms can diminish even the most beautifully designed spaces, subtly undermining both perception and desirability.
Guests don’t read first, they respond instinctively to what they see. And if your imagery doesn’t immediately convey quality, atmosphere, and a true sense of place, attention is lost before a single word is read.
This was the case at Caer Rhun Hall Hotel, a striking, privately owned property set within the North Wales countryside, rich in character and heritage, with a strong food and drink offering and a distinct sense of identity. Yet its visual presence no longer reflected the standard of the experience. Like many independent hotels, its imagery had evolved over time into a mix of styles and eras, creating a disconnect between expectation and reality.

The Turning Point: Recognising the Need for Better Imagery
At Caer Rhun Hall Hotel, the brief was clear, but ambitious.
The hotel required a complete visual refresh: high-quality imagery of the exterior and grounds, refined interior photography, elevated food and drink content, lifestyle shoot (from a guest perspective), and a fully styled wedding shoot that reflected the venue’s growing position as a premium wedding destination in North Wales. This included showcasing the newly introduced outdoor marquee, designed to accommodate higher-capacity weddings and expand the venue’s offering.
From the owner’s perspective, it was a significant undertaking, coordinating multiple elements, suppliers, and creative direction. From our side, it’s exactly what we do.
We approached it as a complete, end-to-end production. Every detail was carefully considered and managed, from sourcing models and coordinating suppliers to styling, lighting, and execution, delivering a seamless, one-stop solution for the hotel.
This wasn’t about simply updating photos. It was about creating a cohesive visual identity that truly reflects the scale, character, and experience of the venue, imagery designed not only to elevate perception, but to support bookings across both hospitality and weddings.

Translating Experience Into Imagery
The shoot was approached as a complete visual narrative, carefully structured around how a guest experiences the hotel. To ensure minimal disruption to day-to-day operations, the photography was carried out across three separate days, allowing each element of the hotel to be captured with intention and without impacting the guest experience.
We began with the exterior and surrounding landscape, using drone photography to establish a strong sense of place and setting. From there, attention shifted to the interiors, where light was carefully shaped to create clean, balanced, and atmospheric imagery. The finer details, textures, finishes, and design elements, were captured to highlight the character and individuality of the space.
Bedrooms were photographed to feel calm, inviting, and considered, while the food and drink offering was styled to appear rich, refined, and visually engaging. Staff portraits were also included, introducing a human element that adds warmth and trust to the overall brand.
The result is a cohesive, high-end image library designed to work seamlessly across the website, booking platforms, and wider marketing, accurately reflecting the full experience of the hotel.

The intention wasn’t just to refine the imagery, but to position the hotel as visually compelling and impossible to ignore online.
The Result: A Stronger Brand and More Bookings Potential
The transformation was immediate. Where the previous imagery lacked cohesion and impact, the new visuals introduce a refined, consistent aesthetic, elevating perception and establishing a sense of quality from the very first glance. More importantly, they now capture the true essence of the guest experience, aligning what is seen online with what is felt in person.
This is not a one-off scenario. Many independent hotels across the UK share the same challenge, beautifully considered spaces subtly undermined by imagery that no longer reflects their standard, unsure where to turn for a considered, professional solution.
Before & After: Transforming the Visual Identity
Before the shoot, the hotel’s imagery didn’t reflect the quality of the space.
Flat, lifeless lighting
Mixed colour tones
Outdated room presentation
Inconsistent image style
No clear brand identity
The result: the hotel looked average online, despite offering a great real-life experience
After – Clean, Premium, and Cohesive
Following the shoot, the hotel now has a complete, high-end image library that elevates its presence across all platforms.
Clean, modern, professional visuals
Consistent look and feel throughout
Rooms that feel inviting and premium
Food and drink that looks rich and desirable
Stronger first impressions across website and booking platforms
The difference is immediate, imagery that now reflects the true quality of the hotel
The intention wasn’t just to refine the imagery, but to influence how the hotel is perceived, chosen, and ultimately booked.

What changed isn’t the hotel… It’s how it’s presented.

If your hotel doesn’t look as good online as it does in real life…That’s something we can fix.
As a hotel photographer working across Manchester, North Wales, Yorkshire and the UK…I work with a small number of hotels each month to create high-end visual libraries that elevate brand perception and support bookings.
